Job Description

The Just Won’t Die Studio is looking for a highly-skilled, driven and deeply creative Video Editor to work on an exciting new and original IP for console and PC. You’ll be the sole owner of audio and sound design.

We need someone who’s a self-starter, capable of both the artistic and technical elements of sound design - the role requires an excellent eye for detail, a solid technical ability and a strong desire to create incredible, innovative video experiences.

If you understand the importance of delivering visceral video engagement within a game experience, and how subtle detail and emotionally driven video can enhance a player’s immersion and have a desire for excellence, then we’d very much like to hear from you.

The ideal candidate would have industry knowledge and a passion for games. The position is in-house and based in Cambridge, UK.

Skills and Experience

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own, and deliver to quality, areas of the project’s video experience

  • Create and integrate narrative-enhancing, immersive sound design

  • Work closely with the key stakeholders and to drive video direction for the game

REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of Unreal Engine 5

  • Understanding and experience in the production of marketing materials in the video games development industry context

  • Solid experience with digital technology and editing software packages (e.g. Avid Media Composer, Lightworks, Premiere, After Effects and Final Cut).

  • Demonstrable video editing ability with a strong portfolio

  • Familiarity with special effects, 3D and compositing

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines.

  • Take a brief to grasp the production team’s needs and specifications

  • Input music, dialogues, graphics and effects

  • Create rough and final cuts

  • Ensure logically sequencing and smooth running

  • Consult with stakeholders from production to the post-production process

  • Learning new systems quickly

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • A passion for playing and making games

  • Strong communication skills coupled with the ability to deliver great sound design

GREAT TO HAVE:

  • Experience with GaaS games and associated marketing

  • Experience in documentary

  • Experience in working with playtests footage

  • Experience working with external vendors and contractors

  • Thorough knowledge of timing, motivation and continuity

  • Creative mind and storytelling skills

  • Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and the industry’s best practices to maximise efficiency
